Wood box lock with iron ("bolt and trimmings") mortised in. Painted dovetail shape iron cover plate has brass keyhole escutcheon attached, and wraps around end. Flush mounting with nail strapping at each end, and patterned iron keyhole escutcheon. All paint is black. Single deadbolt is key operated from both sides.
