Description

Earthenware children's mug. Black transfer printed images. Two scenes, divided by an image of a bird with outstreched wings perched on a large rock, with the inscription "Parisian Characters." The scene on one side is a street vendor selling "Fine Constantine Dates." The man wears clothing similar to those wore in the Ottoman Empire (whose captial was Constantinople), with his wares in front of him on a folding stand. The scene on the other side is a woman selling "Fresh Herrings" from a tray at her waist.
