Description

This portion of a red and white copperplate-printed quilt depicts several scenes from American history. Each scene is surrounded by a medallion border. They include: Baron Steuben, C.J. Morris, Dr. Franklin, Washington, Huntington, Thompson, Drayton, Norris, and Adams. The title of the full print, based on engravings by Benoit Louis Prevost after the drawings of Pierre Eugene Du Simitiere, is "America presenting at the Altar of Liberty Medallions of her Illustrious Sons" This was a portion of a quilt originally owned, and marked, by H. D. Coffin.
