Description

Two piece ensemble, consisting of Bodice (A) construced of brown-colored velvet with a high neckline and standing band collar, long sleeves with a slit at cuff. Bodice and sleeves are lined with taffeta. Bodice is boned and princess seamed, with long tails and two silk satin-covered buttons. Interior satin tape waistband/petersham with hook & eye closure. Bodice armscye finished with narrow green wool tape. Closure at center front with 15 silk covered buttons. Skirt (B) constructed from brown satin with a satin waistband, lined with taffeta and closed with seven buttons. Skirt is embellished with wide pleated fabric swaths attached to side seams draping to left thigh, knotted with large tassels. Box pleated ruffle at hem; pleated bustle at back; back of skirt padded; lined with wool, silk, and buckram. Inside hem lined with taffeta; inside right pocket; two woolen tape ties at left inside seam; back closure.
