This two-piece day dress consists of a matched bodice and skirt. The bodice is made from brown and cream-colored striped satin, with long sleeves and a V-shaped back that extends over the shoulders to form sleeve caps. The bodice is boned front and back, closes with ten buttons covered in brown silk, and is lined with linen. The bodice, skirt, and cuffs are trimmed with brown braid. The skirt has cartridge pleats set into the waistband at back, an inset pocket on the right seam, and is cut longer at back to form a small train.
