Description

Earthenware teacup without handle (.1) and saucer (.2). Green transfer-print "Eagle" pattern. Depicts eagle with outstretched wings sailing in a large shell-shaped boat with furled sail. In the background is a village and a domed building on a hill. The eagle wears a shield bearing the stars and stripes around its neck and holds five arrows in one claw and an olive leaf in the other. A United States flag with flowing tassels and a halberd are also in the shell boat. Green transfer-print border of shells, dolphins, fans, tridents and foliate scrolls. Manufactured by R. Hall and Sons, England.
