Oval wooden bandbox (A) and pasteboard lid (B). Box and lid are covered with mutliple layers of paper. Lowest visible paper on box has a Neoclasical landscape with figures and architectural structures block printed in blues, white and varnish green on a peach background. This layer is partially covered by a paper with block printed stylized flowers and foliage, printed in blue and white. However, either the motifs or background may have been an irise pattern originally. This paper is the visible layer on the lid. Lower edge of box also has scraps of printed textile affixed. Interior of box bottom is lined with decaying newspaper.
Interior of lid is lined with a plain beige fabric.
