Wallpaper (A) and border (B) fragments from the hall of the Lakeman Johnson House, circa 1840. Wallpaper (A) is a landscape scenary paper with harbor scene and irise sky framed by Gothic cartouches entwined with red roses and blue morning glories, printed on white polished ground. Straight repeat. See 1971.210 for another sample of the same paper. Fragment (B) is a matching border with column and entwined flowers like those found on the wallpaper. Printed in the same colors: gray, white, brown, blue, pink and green.
