Description

Breakfront bookcase. Mahogany, mahogany veneer, glass. Rectangular, comprised of two sections. Base: projecting center section with cupboard doors flanked by wings, each with a cupboard door; the doors are inlaid with ovals of crotch-grained mahogany set within mitered and crossbanded borders. Top: the conforming but more shallow upper section has four glazed doors (original glass); the light wood stringing on the tympanum features interlacing rectangle and diamond designs; moulded cornice; interior fitted with shelves and painted blue-green; stamped brass keyhole escutcheons with Prince of Wales feathers, a shield and a grape cluster; both sections have lateral brass carrying handles.
