Gold rectangular eight-sided mourning brooch with concentric framed designs forming the top of the brooch. The outer-most edge is engraved with scrolling floral designs on the rim, which folds over the top of the brooch to seal the hair contents within. It ends in an ogee scroll that overlays a black enamelled surface. Set into the enamel is an oval crystal that encloses a braid of blonde hair. The crystal is framed in gold decorated with a floral pattern. The brooch closes on the back with a hinged pin that sits into an open C catch. It is inscribed on the back with a memorial date and name. See Inscriptions field
