Small rectangular black lacquered box w/ bronzed edges on 4 bracket feet; hinged front door w/ inset panel w/ gilded, crested bird, orchids and curvalinear leaves; sides and top have gilded Japanese maple leaves and curvalinear line decorations; front door has applied pierced, incised hinges, lock plate and triangular corner mounts; inside 3 drawers w/ gilded heart-shaped leaf and stem motifs (also on inside of door); scalloped cast metal drop handles; larger scalloped handle on top.
