Description

Small sampler of rectangular form, with rows of letters, numbers and decorative bands over an inscription. In the lower half are two birds perched on a sprig of two white and one blue flowers tied with a partial bowknot. It is worked in silk threads in shades of: blue, yellow, white and brown on a deep beige linen foundation. It is in a mahogany stained modern frame (ca.1920).

Label

The silk threads have faded and there is a large tear in the lower half center has been mended. The ground fabric is discolored.

Inscription

Embroidered at the mid-section is: Eliza Adams 1817 .
