A set of three matched garments, A=Basque; B=Dress; C=Underskirt, made from woven cream-colored silk and supplemental brown wool in scrolling pattern. The garment trim is dark brown taffeta. Basque bodice (A); brown taffeta collar; self-piping; lapels split from collar at shoulder. Brown taffeta insert at neck & waist separated by cream & brown fabric tab with button. Long sleeves with brown taffeta; turned back cuffs trimmed with two straps of cream and brown fabric, closure with two mother-of-pearl buttons, self-piping. Basque closure down center front with fifteen mother-of-pearl buttons at center front lined with light brown wool. Dress (B) made from cream and brown textile to match basque, band collar with brown piping; brown taffeta lapels; long sleeves with cream and brown straps with two buttons at cuffs. Pleated brown taffeta ruffle at cuffs; buttons and button holes from neck to hem. Two bands of pleated brown taffeta above scalloped hem trimmed with brown piping. Bow and train at back of dress; boned; lined with cream cotton twill; elastic band at back bow. Underskirt (C) is made from brown cotton with button closure at back and a brown taffeta dust ruffle with scalloped and pleated hem. The hem is bound with brown wool tape. Added fullness for bustle possible with a drawstring half-way down back of skirt.
