Used in Cherished Possessions 2003-2005: In the 1960s, the German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal, hired Walter Gropius's architectural firm, The Architects' Collaborative (TAC), based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to design a factory complex. The company also commissioned the design of a tea set for its Studio Line. The tea set, known as TAC 1 and introduced in 1969, was the result of collaboration between Gropius and modeler Katherine De Sousa. Its simple geometric form and suitability to mass production are evidence that Gropius's Bauhaus ideals remained strong throughout his life.
