Description

Portrait of Frances Hall Ames Barrett, leaning on the scrolled arm of a sofa with gold upholstery. Sitter is wearing a white off-the-shoulder dress with ruched bodice, short puffed sleeves, and pleated skirt. A small gold brooch is pinned to the center of the bodice. Sitter is wearing a pair of matched gold bracelets and is holding a sheaf of sheet music in her left hand. Sitter's brown hair curled into ringlets and piled atop her head. White pedestal with blue and gold urn in background at left, red draperies with gold fringe in background at right. Plain gilt frame.
