Side chair with simple rounded crest rail surmounting a spindle back with four bulb and ring turned spindles enclosed by corresponding turned stiles. The round styles continue to round tapered legs, canted back. Front legs are turned and splayed. Ring and bulb turned frontal stretcher with two side and one rear dowel stretchers. Saddle-shaped cane seat. Painted bright red with gilt banding; repainted c. 1880s.
