From "A Family Collects: Paintings and Sculpture from the Codman House," Concord Museum, 1993-1994: Dorothy Codman brought the collection full circle when she bought this small landscape from a cousin. It was one that Richard Codman had originally purchased from the dealer LeBrun in Paris in 1796 and had sent to his brother John in Boston. A paper label affixed to the back by LeBrun reads "No. 7 un paysage par Duval."
