Description

Black taffeta with black chiffon; Bodice (A) - cream net chemisette with high boned collar, tucks, several small covered buttons and scalloped edged ruffle; black taffeta over black chiffon - resemble vest over blouse effect - "ves" has V-neck, double breasted with one decorative self-covered button over snap; blouson effect exaggerated by weights; pointed waist; peplum at back; and pleated belt; long black chiffon sleeves, lined with chiffon, with two bands of black taffeta with black piping below elbow and cuff; boned; black taffeta lining with hook and eye closure; Skirt (B) - matching black taffeta; ankle length; smocking around waistband; waistband lined with white gros grain ribbon; hook and eye and snap closure, underskirt of black taffeta with flounce; overskirt has scalloped hem, trimmed with band of box pleats, and self-bows; Jacket (C) - matching black taffeta; collar has wide pointed lapels, with point at back of neck; thigh length with "skirt" gathered for flare; front "lappets" trimmed with piping and bows; 4 large self-covered buttons, long sleeves gathered at shoulders with fullness at cuffs; cuffs have pointed and piped edge with 1 large self covered button; decorative belt at back; black satin lining; piping all around.
