Long rectangular fragment of reversible ingrain wool carpet with an overall geometric pattern of a small diamond gridwork with dots within the lines. One side has white filled diamonds, on the opposite side the diamonds are filled with the ground colors which include white, red, green and peach. Fragment has one selvedge edge. Opposite edge and one end are bound in striped wool tape. Tape colors include light blue, yellow and tan.

Label: Ingrain carpet is a reversible, double-woven floor covering. The example with a diamond pattern, made in England, dates to the late 18th century; the other patterns were made in the United States about 1860. All three were found in the same house. [1993.508, 1993.865, 1993.867]
